Run on the track

The main action is based on the following run table. This values define, how many fields the horses move down the stretch during the race. The values are adjusted, based on the statistical pattern of two dices and are also smoothed. This gives us results, that are very similar and provide us exciting head on head races. For the basic game you just use the first [Field] column. If you want to have more action, you can also consider the additional columns. If the result gives a FALL or MINOR value in this case, roll the dices again and adjust the first column values with the additional impact [Minor] or [Fall], based on the result of the roll.

If a horse or jockey is OUT, then it's only out for the actual race and some additional races. Note, that in "Thoroughbred Time" horses won't die or get destroyed, because I don't want to support this approach and that's the great thing in simulated games... they can live for ever. For more injury details you can use the additional [Out] table - for example, if you run multiple races or triple crown events and want to track the processes of each horse and jockey. If there is an out, roll the dices two times - one for the horse and one for the jockey.

The [Jump] column will only be used on tracks with fences - see Tracks. Each time, you come to a fence, you have to roll the dices and use the result of the [Jump] column, to adjust the final value of the move, based on the last standard [Fields] value. See Example 3.
